Getting started

Signed up. Now what?

Six steps from "what's this" to "I just finished my first cyber lesson". No download, no install. Bring a browser.

The first session

Do these in order.

  • Sign in with your mlab account

Click Sign in in the top right. SSO with mlab.sh. No new password, no new credentials.

  • Fill the welcome survey (30 seconds)

One screen, two questions: who you are (student / teacher / club lead / curious) and where you found us. Helps us tune the platform.

  • You now have 50 gems

Welcome grant on the house. Check the orange gem chip in the top bar.

  • Open the course catalog

Sidebar → Courses. Filter by tier with the pills (T0 free, T1 5g, etc).

  • Start with a Tier 0 course

Cyber 101 takes 45 minutes. It costs nothing and unlocks the rest mentally.

  • Finish a lesson, click "Next lesson"

That single button marks the current lesson done and moves you forward. Course completes when the last one is done. Gem reward lands automatically.

What to do next

After your first course.

Three roads, depending on what you want.

  • Take another free Tier 0

Stack the basics. Each Tier 0 you finish pays gems you'll spend on Tier 1.

  • Browse Learning paths

Sidebar → Learning paths. Pick one, see the curated sequence, work through it.

  • Spend gems on a Tier 1 course

5 gems each. Pick the closest match to what your school course is teaching this week.

Common roadblocks

If something doesn't work.

The "Sign in" button downloads a JSON file.
That means the mlab SSO app for student.mlab.sh isn't fully configured on the mlab side, or the access token is misformatted. Email [email protected] with the time and we'll fix it within hours.
I unlocked a course but it doesn't show as "unlocked".
Refresh the page. The gem debit is atomic but the front-end state may be cached for a few seconds.
"Not enough gems" but I just earned some.
The balance in the topbar updates on each page load. Click the gem chip in the topbar to land on /me/gems for the canonical balance.
I marked a lesson done but it doesn't auto-complete the course.
The course auto-completes only when every lesson is marked done. Check the lesson list in the course detail, look for the ones still unchecked.
I want to join a class my teacher set up.
They should hand you a private link like /me/classes/join/<uuid>. Click it while signed in. You're added to their roster immediately.

50 gems are waiting.

The first session is mostly clicking "next lesson". You'll do fine.
